Our own Jackie Bender, Scientist at the Centre for Global eHealth Innovation and ELLICSR Cancer Survivorship Centre and collaborator Jennifer Stinson Clinician-Scientist from the Hospital for Sick Children join Hannah Keartland Citizen Science Lead from Cancer Research UK on The Agenda with Steve Paikin to discuss how smartphone apps are being used to tackle cancer. Together they discuss the status of apps for cancer, the evidence on their effectiveness, games to motivate their use, and the role of regulation to ensure their safety and effectiveness. Featured apps include Pain Squad, a game-based pain assessment app for kids with cancer, and Genes in Space, a game that lets players analyze real genetic data to help beat cancer.
